The Royal Canadian Mint was established in 1908 as a branch of the Royal Mint, becoming fully Canadian in 1931. Its main facility is in Ottawa, with a second high-volume bullion site in Winnipeg.
The Mint launched the Gold Maple Leaf in 1979 — the world's first .9999 fine gold bullion coin and a market leader ever since. The silver Maple Leaf followed in 1988 and is similarly the only widely-circulated four-nines (999.9) silver bullion coin. Both are LBMA Good Delivery-accredited and feature anti-counterfeit micro-engraving since 2013.
The Mint also produces minted and cast bullion bars in gold, silver, platinum and palladium for institutional and retail markets.
